Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Medical Coder at Offshore MVP in Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone. The Medical Coder will be responsible for assigning accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services performed by healthcare providers. This role involves reviewing medical records, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, and optimizing reimbursement for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assigns codes to medical procedures and diagnoses.
- Ensures that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations.
- Complies with medical coding guidelines and policies.
- Receives and reviews patients charts and documents for verification and accuracy.
- Conducts follow up and clarifies any information that is not clear to other staff members.
- Collects information made by the Physician from different sources to prepare monthly reports.
- Implements strategic procedures and chooses strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results.
- Examines any medical malpractice that has been reported by analyzing and identifying the medical procedures, diagnoses or events that lead to the negligence.
- Complies with hospital and medical facility policies, including those relating to HIPAA and Joint Commission.
- Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned.
- Assigns codes to diagnoses and procedures, using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes.
- Ensures codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
- Conducts follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear.
- Communicates with other clinical staff regarding documentation.
- Searches for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual.
- Receives and review patient charts and documents for accuracy.
- Reviews the previous day's batch of patient notes for evaluation and coding.
- Ensures that all codes are current and active.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with pre-health career track preferred.
- Medical coding or successful completion of a certification program (CPC).
- With experience as a Medical Coder.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Expert with ICD-X codes and CPT Procedures.
- Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Administrative writing, reporting, record-keeping, and typing skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Professionalism, confidentiality, and organization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Location: Clark, Pampanga
Shift: 6:00 AM - 3:00AM, Monday to Friday
Arrangement: Hybrid (MWF - WFH, TTH - WFO)
