We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Virtual Assistant to support our medical billing team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in medical billing, coding, and insurance claims processing. This role involves managing billing processes, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, all within a remote work environment.
Preparing and submitting clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper
- Answering questions from patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies
Identifying and resolving patient billing complaints- Preparing, reviewing, and sending patient statements
Reviewing accounts for possible assignment and making recommendations to the Billing Supervisor
- Performing various collection actions including contacting patients by phone; correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers
Processing payments from insurance companies- Adhering to best data management practices and maintaining a high standard of accuracy and efficiency.
Combines data from different reports and/or purges files to eliminate data duplication.
- Contributes to team effort by updating and accomplishing reports as needed.
Maintaining a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times.- Knowing our products inside and out so that you can answer questions.
Processing orders, forms, applications, and requests.
- Keeping records of customer interactions, transactions, comments, and complaints.
Communicating and coordinating with colleagues as necessary.- Provide feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process.
Ensure customer satisfaction and provide professional customer support.
- Participating in educational activities and attending monthly staff meetings
Maintaining strictest confidentiality; adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations- Performing other work-related duties as assigned
At least 3 years of working experience as a medical biller or a medical billing virtual assistant.- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding is preferred.
Strong knowledge of HIPAA and PHI.
- Knowledge of Google Suite applications (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters- Excellent analytical skills in understanding client queries and complaints
Excellent communication with customers, the team, and the management.
- Proficient writing skills to produce customer support-related reports
Strong negotiating abilities when discussing with customers International Experience is highly desirable- Flexible working hours and must be able to work with our staff in NYC.
Knowledge of using Slack
