JOB SUMMARY
An Ultrasound technologist/Sonographer will utilize ultrasound technology to produce high-quality images of the patient's internal organs, tissues, and blood flow patterns. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent patient care abilities, and a commitment to delivering accurate and compassionate imaging services. This position works with patients that Makati Life Medical Center (MLMC) serves; and helps develop, implement, and improve work systems to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
- DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
_I. Patient education and interaction
_
Ensure verification of physician's request, official receipt, and patient's information, such as patient's name and birthday, etc.
Ensure all patient preparations needed and obtain relevant medical history that will help radiologists study the patient's condition.
Educate patients on pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions.
Ensure patient comfort and safety with written or verbal instructions before and after the procedure.
Participates in patient complaint investigations, resolution, and escalations.
Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor to alleviate patient anxiety.
_II. Equipment Operation and Maintenance
_
Operate and maintain machines and other equipment used in Ultrasound procedures ensuring optimal functionality and high-quality diagnostic images.
Troubleshoot technical issues and reports immediately with the Biomedical team when necessary.
Ensure all equipment is clean and properly working before any procedure.
Perform regular maintenance and quality control checks on all equipment and accessories.
_III. Adherence to Safety Protocols
_
Use radiation monitoring devices, radiation safety measures, and protection devices to ensure patient and team member's safety.
Follow infection control procedures to maintain a safe environment.
Participates in quality assurance control programs of the department and hospital.
_IV. Collaboration with the Healthcare Team
_
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely imaging results.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases and contribute to process flow and patient care plans.
Coordinate with and assist with other imaging sections for more efficient workflow.
Respond to emergencies and initiate calls for assistance. Escalate issues and problems to immediate superior and timely report incidents required by regulatory agencies and hospital policies.
_V. Continuing Education
_
Attend seminars, conventions, and workshops to gain knowledge, network with other colleagues, and develop interpersonal skills.
Participate in ongoing educational programs to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.
_VI. Record Keeping and Documentation
_
Ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental documentation and certification standards.
Maintain accurate patient records and uphold patient confidentiality.
Record and endorse monitoring of consumables in the department.
A daily census of all procedures must be recorded by the shift's end and endorsed to the next duty.
Performs all duty requirements with diligence, compliant with to work standards of the Philippine Association of Radiologic Technologists, and consistent with the standards of MLMC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology.
Experience: 1 year experience as an Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer.
Certification: Valid license from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for Radiologic Technologists in the Philippines.
Basic Life Support, Basic Computer knowledge (i.e. Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Ensure adequate and complete supplies and needs of the section.
Must be willing to work in Makati City.
