Lead Engineer (Java)

Job Summary

We're looking for a skilled Lead Engineer to join our global team! As a Lead Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with both IT and business stakeholders to design, implement, and refine solutions across multiple projects and teams. You'll be hands-on with technical specifications, project coordination, and agile practices, guiding your team to success through each phase of the development lifecycle.

Mandatory Skill-set

• Have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from a reputable university;
• Have 5+ years of experience in software development with hands-on expertise in agile methodologies, particularly Scrum;
• Strong knowledge of IT architecture, particularly in microservices, REST & SOAP application services, and retail banking technology;
• Proven track record in Java development on the J2EE platform with experience in Spring and Spring Boot;
• Expertise in front-end frameworks like Angular and JavaScript libraries (TypeScript, jQuery);
• Strong experience with DBMS and SQL (Oracle, PL/SQL), Git, and CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps;
• Comprehensive understanding of agile principles, TDD, and experience in automated testing frameworks (JUnit);
• Effective communication and presentation skills in English (C1 level or above), with the ability to interact across varying seniority levels and technical backgrounds;
• Demonstrated ability to lead, problem-solve creatively, and drive project progress.

Desired Skill-set

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and present end-to-end solutions;
• Familiarity with UML standards and architecture modeling;
• Experience in complex, 24/7 operational environments, with a focus on scalable, resilient applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the translation of complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications that deliver real business value;
• Develop end-to-end solutions, breaking down requirements and identifying optimal paths forward by analyzing costs, benefits, and risks;
• Collaborate with cross-functional squads to manage dependencies and deliver cohesive, scalable solutions;
• Interpret business rules and functional requirements to create technical specifications with an architectural focus on system interactions, data exchanges, and transformations;
• Act as a subject matter expert on microservices architecture, domain design, and REST/SOAP applications, ensuring robust, scalable solutions;
• Participate in the shaping, feasibility analysis, and development of Epics and User Stories in collaboration with developers, providing technical guidance where needed;
• Drive and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, supporting test development, test-driven practices, and problem determination.
