Unilogix Inc. is a food commissary company offering specialty bakery and other ready-to-eat goods.
- Laboratory Specialist is responsible for administering complete and accurate laboratory tests and analyses to support a successful HACCP program and assure food safety.
Prepares the equipment and apparatus needed for the microbiological testing based on the environmental monitoring plan. Sterilize glasswares and media needed in the testing and record the time start and end of sterilization, psi, temperature and indicator reaction in the provided form.
- Prepares media needed in conducting monthly verification of product testing and for newly developed products.
Monitors the pH buffer of media prepared and adjust if necessary.- Monitors area temperature and relative humidity (RH), media storage temperature, incubators temperature according to its required parameters.
Collects samples and performs standardized laboratory and microbiological tests and analyses on water, finished products, food contact surfaces, aerial condition, personnel based on the environmental monitoring plan. Communicates results to superiors.
- Conducts allergen testing (ELISA) based on the set frequency (based on risk).
- 7 Conducts shelf-life study to ensure compliance with food safety and customer requirements.
Conducts microbiological testing initial and end of product testing during the shelf-life study for the newly developed products.- Communicates results to superiors and accomplish Incident Report for the non- conforming products during microbial testing.
Recommends the approval or rejection of finished products based on the result of evaluation and verification to ensure consistent quality and food safety in all products.
- Maintains the safekeeping of all laboratory documentation and records in compliance to FSMS. Provides inputs for all laboratory procedures and guidelines.
Tests contaminated returns from customers and internally occurring incidents to assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of deviations or non-conformances. Reports results to enable informed decisions to be made.- Maintains the stocking of laboratory chemicals and supplies, the cleanliness and organization of the QA laboratory and ensures its premises are cleared and decontaminated prior to vacating.
Prepares timely and accurate Spoilage and Spillage Report (SSR) of all retention samples and endorses these items to the Sanitation Supervisor for proper disposal.
- Trends microbiological testing results of equipment, handswab, aerial plate test, water testing, packaging materials and finished products for the purpose of proactively identifying gaps and to drive improvement initiatives.
Participate in validation study related to CCP and OPRP identified as control measure and other related activities .- Trouble shooting of microbiological & cross contamination non-conformities in coordination with Plant Hygienist to identify corrective and preventive actions.
Participate in any investigation of micro related consumer complaints and regulation issues
- MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
License is an advantage.
- Education or Training: Must be a graduate of BS Food Technology, BS Biology, or any science based related course.
Skills & Experience: Minimum of 2 years full time experience in laboratory analysis, preferably gained from the food manufacturing industry. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the succeeding knowledge and abilities may substitute for the education and experience requisite
