Job Description
Reporting Line:
Junior Operations Executive and/or Technical Operations Manager
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory test and Analyses and reporting test results according to the Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Also in-charge for troubleshooting technical-related problems and coaching lab analysts I, lab technicians and lab aides.
Specific Responsibilities:
Reviews samples against Request for Analysis and / or claim stub and/or other information for routine test (including but not limited to sample size, method, availability of reagents/equipment for testing/TAT) when designated by the supervisor
Reviews new procedures when designated by the supervisor.
Performs sampling, testing and analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory Tests and Analyses and in accordance with the QMS and Safety Policies defined in the Safety Manual.
Performs preparation of reagents and test solutions and standardization of volumetric solutions in accordance with the standard test methods.
Participates in various proficiency / correlation programs.
Performs witnessing of analyses and/or auditing tasks.
Conducts special tests such as client-supplied procedure and substantiating advertising claims
Conducts method validation.
Provides input on method improvement.
Operates and maintains equipment used in performing analyses.
Conducts troubleshooting on equipment being used.
Reads, understands, and follows proper standard operating procedures
Analyzes and interprets standard laboratory test results including statistical quality control charts and uncertainty of measurements
Conducts troubleshooting of technical-related problems and suggests alternative solutions.
Participates in the evaluation of PT performance and provides inputs to improve the performance in the next rounds
Prepares uncertainty of measurement worksheets of special and non-routine tests
Prepares and updates reports related to the analyses performed including statistical quality control charts and uncertainty of measurements for routine tests.
Signs worksheets and job instructions.
Maintains routine documentation, including worksheets, log sheet entries, sample documentations, etc. Records data precisely and accurately.
Check, evaluate and sign worksheets, draft reports and test reports when designated by the supervisor.
Validates results registered in Laboratory Information Management System when designated by the supervisor
Coaches lab analysts I, lab technicians, lab aides and OJTs on the performance of test, analyses, and sample preparation.
Maintains workplace in a safe and orderly condition.
Prepares purchase request for laboratory supplies
Requests for cash advance / payment of divisions expenses subject to review of immediate superior and approval of Laboratory Operations Manager
Ensures compliance to the Group and national policies including but not limited to the maintenance of the Quality Management System
Operating to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity.
Complies with the Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy (QHSEE) policies and supporting objectives including, but not limited to:
Demonstrates strong commitment to SGS QHSEE policies, procedures and work instructions by actively participating in meetings, projects and events, completes required training, intervenes in unsafe situations, refuses unsafe work, and complies fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to HSEE
Responds appropriately and immediately to emergency situations and assists other staff members in maintaining readiness to act to emergencies within the workplace
Disposes or directs the disposal of waste generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with the disposal regulations and requirements, and in accordance with SGS Environmental Management System requirements
Reports all incidents, including near misses and hazards, that may affect the achievement of QHSEE objectives in accordance with SGS Incident Reporting and Management requirements
Efficiently uses all equipment, including safety equipment, and company owned property in the manner intended and reports any damaged / lost equipment to immediate superior
Maintains a safe and tidy worksite according to the organization's 5S program and guidelines
Maintains awareness of the safety and health related hazards and environmental aspects and proposes action plans to control the risks to immediate superior or QHSEE Coordinators
Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management
Fulfills the requirements needed in the success of the QHSEE Management System
Recognizes the potential consequences of not following the established policies, procedures, and guidelines, including not fulfilling the organization's compliance obligations
Qualifications
Education: Must have at least a University or College degree on BS Chemistry, BS Biochemistry or Agrichemistry, and other related sciences.
Preferably with Professional license depending on the course taken and as required by law.

Experience/Technical Knowledge
Core (Integrity, Work Standard, Customer Service Orientation, Communication), Professional / Technical knowledge, Functional (Organization skill, Analysis / Problem Assessment, Attention to Details / Quality orientation, and Judgment / Problem-solving).
Computer-literate, laboratory-oriented, communication skills, can work on weekends and on shifting schedule whenever required.
Experience: At least 2 years laboratory-related experience.
