Job Description Summary
The GOS Global Technology Service group, is a team of dedicated IT consultants, project managers and business analysts that support our client technology solutions through best-in-class software systems utilizing a service delivery model to deliver value within a clear, consistent and measurable framework. Additionally, we provide assessment, technology roadmap, transition and integration services as well as a continuous improvement-based support model to ensure an ongoing technology investment for the duration of our client relationships.
In support of Global Occupier Services, our team also provides business development support including solution definition, pricing, technology demonstration and delivery for Strategy and Portfolio Administration Services, Transaction & Project Management Transaction, Facilities Management, Space & Occupancy, and Financial Management.
Job Description
We are looking for a Junior BI and Data Analyst to help play a key linking role between our integrations/data engineering team, data governance and visualization teams to help continue the build out and continual improvement of a global BI platform built primarily on the Microsoft stack in Azure.
You will grow your data modelling, DAX and M coding, data analysis and report design skills by working alongside senior BI developers within the team. You will be required to create, maintain and enhance our reporting platform as part of a structured software development lifecycle. There will also be an element of BAU activities, requirements gathering, analysis and documentation around building new solutions and enhancing existing ones.
- BAU platform support troubleshoot and bug fixes within existing reports and data models, which requires an understanding of complex business logic implemented using TSQL, Power Query (M) and/or DAX. Also to include
a. Validating source-to-target data mapping activities to support system integration or bug fixes.
b. Support and investigate data quality issues through data layers to visualization layers.
c. Translate product business requirements into data requirements, review DAX and common data model, investigate and resolve data issues, and create SQL scripts.
d. Support ad hoc data loads and perform User Acceptance Testing on data aspects during product releases.
e. Working with the business and the global team to investigate and resolve data issues.
f. Collaborate with business units to capture and define metadata attributes, such as data lineage, definitions, and business rules.
g. Drive continuous improvement in the automation and standardization of data requirements.
- Reporting platform support and development create and enhance Power BI dashboards and several tabular models as part of planned platform development projects and activities. There is also an element of enhancing and supporting the Power BI embedded portal.
a. Utilizing advanced analytics tools such as Alteryx, Azure Databricks or Python to transform data, automate workflows and develop analytical tools.
b. Assessing impact of source system changes or non-standard data on the BI platform
c. User Acceptance Testing on data aspects during product releases
- Transition Management support the technology components of new client on boarding to include items such as supporting custom report developers with building, testing and troubleshooting.
- Client Project Services carry out technology project related activities to include such items as requirements capture, business rule specification, dashboard and tabular model design, change management routines in Power BI.
- Collateral development in supporting the BI solutions the role includes activities such as documenting the new implementations and changes in the dashboards to be able to compile for multiple IT and Business standards. This also includes development of new processes to support the development team, using technologies such as Python, Power Apps and Power Automate.
Knowledge & Experience:
Excellent communication in English
1 - 2 years solid Power BI development experience and working with Power BI must have been in a recent role
Experience in Agile Development
Excellent logical and analytical skills - the ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights from data.
Great attention to detail, diligent, focused, and highly analytical with the curiosity and drive to solve problems.
Must have good knowledge of the DAX and M programming languages, data model development and report design and implementation experience.
Ability to write T-SQL code to query databases
Experience with precise requirements gathering and documentation, which can be used to create high-level and low-level design documents for developers
Excellent communication skills and the ability to create and maintain technical documentation
Some experience with Power App and Power Automate
Ability to produce high quality documentation (reports, specifications, requirements, etc.)
