POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Junior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. As well as:
- monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports and/or statements
- coordinate and complete annual audits
- initiate corrective actions
- meet financial accounting objectives
- establish and maintain fiscal files and records
- efficiently handle taxation management and reconciliation of banks
- resolve accounting issues
- do general ledger preparation, year-end audit preparation in support of budget and forecast activities.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRA):
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closings to ensure accurate financial records.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for strategic decision-making.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to the process.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts, assisting in financial planning efforts.
- Compare actual results with the budget and forecasts, explaining any variances.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Reconcile credit card and bank statements regularly.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closings to ensure accurate financial records.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns and other regulatory filings as required.
- Payroll Management:
- Process and manage payroll, ensuring accurate and timely salary disbursement.
- Handle employee expense reports and reimbursements.
Internal Controls & Audits:
- Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Prepare for and coordinate external and internal audits.
- Assist and act as primary contact for auditor requests.
Financial Systems & Software:
- Utilize accounting software and tools for efficient financial management.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the accounting system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- With a Professional License in Accountancy (CPA)
- With knowledge and relevant experience in accounting, audit and taxation
- Is proficient in QuickBooks, yet comfortable working with manual accounting system
- Attentive to spotting errors/fraud to detect/prevent this cases
- Will effectively work under pressure
- Works efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision
- Must be professional with strong ethical code
- With up-to-date knowledge in Philippine government compliance
- With up-to-date knowledge in accounting procedure and processes
- Up to 2 years related experience in general accounting and taxation
- Fluent in English and Filipino
- With strong organizational skills
- Adept in written and verbal communication
- With excellent interpersonal skills
- Can do cross-functional collaboration
