Responsibilities
Provide third level support for Infrastructure incidents.
Manage logged incidents to meet SLA objectives.
IT Infrastructure Service is restored promptly and effectively, whilst minimising adverse effect on business operations.
Proactively identify, diagnose, document and eliminate IT Infrastructure problems that cause or may cause system Incidents.
Action IT Infrastructure service requests.
Manage logged service requests to meet SLA objectives.
Ensure routine checks of IT Infrastructure performance are performed.
Perform routine and ad hoc administration on the infrastructure systems.
Ensure routine checks on the Data Centre environmental are performed.
Perform routine and ad hoc administration on the infrastructure systems.
Perform capacity planning, including Identification and resolution of capacity issues.
Monitor and report on operational storage including backups.
Actively contribute to the continuing development of architecture, processes, procedures, standards and methodologies.
Identify personal and team's training and cross-skilling needs and proactively achieve this.
Best practice methodologies used for all levels of Infrastructure management.
Optimisation by monitoring, measuring and reporting on IT Infrastructure service availability.
Review, assess and feedback operational impact for IT Projects.
Contribute to the development, review, configuration and testing of IT Infrastructure.
Manage risk to infrastructure availability and performance.
Plan technical implementation and manage/execute the deployment of major releases to UAT and production environments.
Execute operational testing and provide operational support for UAT.
Review, test, and implement new Infrastructure releases according to agreed release schedule.
Evaluate, test and implement system patches as required by release management plans. Perform pre-release testing of patches in accordance with defined test plan procedures.
Maintain Infrastructure SOE, including adherence to quality process, and certification of change.
Ensure solid design principals are followed with delivery of Infrastructure based solutions.
Commissioning and Implementation of solutions into the IT Operations production environments.
Ensure the operations systems is set up and monitored in accordance with the Information technology security policy and plan.
Working with vendors to evaluate or specify new systems or major changes to current systems.
Ensure all systems delivered comply with business requirements including monitoring, reporting, training and documentation.
Action reported and identified hazards.
Report site incidents.
Undertake self and organisational training.
Perform after hours work as required.
Perform 24x7 on-call duties on a rostered. Skills and Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience in operational support, client facing roles.
Extensive experience in AIX 7 set-up, administration and troubleshooting.
Extensive experience of P Series 7/ P Series 8 series hardware. o Strong skill Virtualization products (HMC, PowerVM, LPM, VIO and LPAR).
Extensive experience in RHEL 6 set-up, administration and troubleshooting.
Understanding of integration of LINUX/UNIX security with Active Directory (or other LDAP/S dir)
Extensive experience in establishing a monitoring solution and performing monitoring of the system.
Working technical knowledge of Scripting - PERL, Shell Scripts, Cron.
Enterprise Storage and Backup experience o IBM Enterprise Arrays Brocade fabric switching
AN fabric management and reporting o IBM TSM (Spectrum Protect)
Experience analysing & documenting system configurations and operational processes.
Knowledge and Experience working at an Enterprise level environment.
Experience in support of mission critical systems in an operational 24
7 environment
Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
Diploma or university degree in computer science or software engineering and relevant work experience or industry experience.
ITIL foundation version
Industry certifications/qualifications.
