The
International Freight Forwarding Operation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of international freight forwarding. This role involves managing the movement of goods across international borders, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating with various stakeholders, including customers, carriers, and customs authorities.
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the international freight forwarding team.- Oversee the end-to-end process of international shipments, including documentation, transportation, customs clearance, and delivery.
Ensure the timely and accurate processing of import and export shipments.
- Optimize routing and transportation methods to minimize costs and improve efficiency.
- 2. Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and other relevant policies.
- Oversee the preparation and verification of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
Stay updated with changes in international trade laws and regulations.
Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding shipment inquiries, tracking, and issue resolution.- Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
Provide timely updates to clients on the status of their shipments.
- 4. Vendor and Carrier Management:
Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers.
- Monitor the performance of service providers to ensure reliability and efficiency.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with carriers and vendors.
Train, mentor, and supervise the freight forwarding team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the team.
Address and resolve operational issues and delays, coordinating with relevant parties to find solutions.
- Analyze and identify areas for improvement in the freight forwarding process.
- 7. Reporting and Analysis:
Generate and analyze reports on shipment performance, costs, and other key metrics.
- Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements and cost reductions.
1. Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in international freight forwarding or logistics, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- 3. Certifications (Preferred):
Certification in Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage, or Supply Chain Management (e.g., FIATA Diploma, CSCMP Certification).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with freight forwarding software and tools (e.g., CargoWise, SAP TM).
Proficiency in English; additional languages relevant to the regions of operation are a plus.
