Job Description

As an Intermediate Tax Accountant, you will prepare tax returns, financial statements, and advisory reports for various businesses while ensuring compliance with Australian tax legislation. Your role combines technical expertise with strategic insights to help clients succeed.

Job Overview

• Apply tax knowledge, including preparing tax returns, activity statements, and adhering to the latest Australian tax rules.
  
• Prepare work papers and reconcile accounts to the financial statement stage.
  
• Develop financial statements, income tax returns, and other lodgements for companies, partnerships, trusts, and individual businesses.
  
• Assist with general bookkeeping tasks to ensure accurate financial records.
  
• Provide clients with tax planning services, including FBT, payroll tax, and STP compliance.
  
• Contribute to business advisory projects such as budgets, cashflows, and management reporting.
  
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation, including work papers and client files, ensuring compliance with client standards.
  

Requirements

The Qualifications We Seek

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with a major in accounting.
  
• Completed or actively pursuing CA/CPA qualification.
  
• At least 3 years of proven experience in accounting and taxation, particularly with Australian tax and accounting.
  
• Thorough understanding of Australian taxation legislation, including GST, FBT, CGT, and Division 7A.
  
• Strong commercial acumen paired with robust technical accounting and analytical skills.
  
• Ability to identify issues effectively and communicate solutions efficiently.
  
• Proficiency in using MYOB, Xero, Reckon, and QuickBooks.
  
• Experience with Reckon APS program (desirable).
  
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  
• Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  
• Collaborative team player with a focus on building strong internal relationships across the organization.
  
• Proven ability to meet productivity and turnaround metrics consistently.
