Job Summary:We are looking for a skilled Infusion Radiology Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for radiology procedures, with a particular focus on coding for infusion-related services. The role requires strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of radiology coding guidelines, and the ability to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
Medical Coding: Accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for radiology procedures, particularly those involving infusion therapies such as contrast media injections, chemotherapy, and other intravenous treatments.
- Chart Review: Review patient charts, imaging reports, and medical records to ensure accurate coding and thorough documentation of radiology procedures and infusion services.
Compliance:
Ensure all coding practices comply with CMS, payer guidelines, and internal policies, maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance.Denial Management:
Collaborate with the billing and revenue cycle teams to address and resolve coding-related denials, rejections, and discrepancies.Auditing: Participate in internal and external audits to verify the accuracy of coding and ensure adherence to coding guidelines and regulations.
- Education: Provide ongoing education and updates to radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff on the latest coding practices, particularly in the area of infusion radiology.
Data Entry:
Efficiently enter codes into the billing system, ensuring that all radiology services, including infusions, are accurately captured for billing purposes.
Certification:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC), or a similar certification is required.Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of medical coding experience, with a focus on radiology and infusion services.Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, particularly as they pertain to radiology and infusion procedures.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy in coding and documentation, with the ability to spot and correct errors.Communication Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex coding issues to clinical and administrative staff.- Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with coding for interventional radiology procedures, including those involving contrast media and other infusions.- Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid billing and coding requirements.
Prior experience with auditing and compliance in a radiology or infusion setting.
