General Description:
The primary responsibility is to manage and support various aspects of an organization's information technology systems and infrastructure. This is crucial in ensuring that the organization's IT resources function efficiently, securely, and in accordance with business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Network and Systems Management: Setting up, configuring, and maintaining the organization's computer networks, servers, and other IT systems. This includes managing network infrastructure, hardware, and software, and ensuring smooth communication among devices.
- User Support: Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users. You'll help employees with hardware and software issues, answer their IT-related questions, and offer guidance on using IT resources effectively.
- Security Management: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the organization's data, networks, and systems. This may involve monitoring for potential security breaches, conducting regular security audits, and educating staff about best security practices.
- Software and Hardware Maintenance: Ensuring that software applications and hardware components are up to date and functioning properly. You may be responsible for software installations, updates, and patch management.
- Data Backup and Recovery: Creating and managing data backup processes to safeguard critical information. In the event of data loss or system failure, you'll be responsible for restoring data to minimize downtime.
- IT Procurement and Inventory Management: Assessing the organization's IT needs, identifying appropriate solutions, and procuring hardware and software resources as required. You'll also be responsible for managing an inventory of IT assets.
- IT Training and Documentation: Conducting training sessions for staff to enhance their IT skills and knowledge. You'll also create and maintain documentation, such as user manuals and technical guides, for various IT systems and processes.
- Collaboration with IT Teams and Vendors: Working with other IT staff and external vendors to resolve complex issues and implement new IT solutions or projects.
- Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Regularly monitoring the performance of IT systems and networks to identify potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement. You'll implement optimizations to enhance overall system performance.
- Project Management: Perform IT project tasks that may be assigned either individually or as part of the committee.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of computer systems, hardware, software, networks, and IT security is essential. Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), database management, and cloud computing is also valuable.
- Experience: Previous experience in IT support, system administration, or a related IT field is often required. The specific experience level may vary depending on the seniority of the position.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: An IT Officer should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
