Responsibilities
Working with vendors to ensure they meet quality standards
Managing inventory levels by ensuring that products are ordered or produced in time to meet customer demand or seasonality requirements
Developing long-term business relationships with suppliers in order to secure competitive pricing on key materials or services
Analyzing data to identify trends that may indicate a need for change within a companyâs supply chain
Overseeing logistics to ensure that products are delivered as promised
Negotiating prices with suppliers to ensure that costs fit within budgets
Coordinating with marketing teams to develop new products or improve existing ones based on consumer feedback
Coordinating with the shipping department to arrange the transportation of goods from suppliers to warehouses or retail locations
Managing employees in the procurement department, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or related field.
Experience: Several years in import/export operations or logistics.
Import Regulations: Knowledge of customs procedures, tariffs, and trade compliance.
Logistics Skills: Experience with transportation modes and supply chain management.
Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Analytical Skills: Capability to analyze import data and identify areas for improvement.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in import documentation and processes.
Problem-Solving: Ability to address issues like customs delays or supplier problems.
Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with import/export software and ERP systems.
Team Management: Leadership skills for managing import/export specialists.
Multilingualism: Proficiency in foreign languages may be advantageous.
