Current AAPC CPC or equivalent coding certificate is required.
- RN, BSN or other allied health care professional degree is strongly preferred.
Position is remote/work-from-home during business hours.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze patients charts carefully and verifies documentation supports diagnoses, procedures and treatment results.
Utilize specialized medical classification software to assign diagnosis codes
- Assign codes to diagnoses using ICD-10-CM codes following the PDGM guidelines by CMS
Enter coding information in an online program- Ensure codes and OASIS items are accurate, scored, and sequenced correctly in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
Verify OASIS and plan of care of information is supported by valid and approved documentation.
- Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation- Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
Remain up to date about new coding rules as codes change from time to time
- Manage detailed, specifically coded information
Maintain patient confidentiality and information security- Ensure that all codes are current and accurate
Meet daily Coding, OASIS, and Plan of Care (POC) review assignments
- Ensure that Coding, OASIS, and POC documentation is clinically accurate while providing support throughout the review process
Maintain continuing education requirements
Perform other related or non-related tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the management
