The Head of NOC is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, and managing staff and overall operations to ensure the stability of the organization's infrastructure and customer services. This role also involves providing expertise in all aspects of network operations.
Define, implement, and enforce the organization's Configuration Management and Change Management policies and practices.
Manage and provide hands-on technical support for the overall health and maintenance of the organization's multiple environments.- Maintain a broad understanding of the operational environment.
Directly manage the network operations team responsible for monitoring network elements, network performance, and facilities for service issues.
- Ensure support hotlines are adequately staffed and ready to respond to calls.
Develop and implement efficient troubleshooting processes to reduce average call time and ensure all cases are attended to according to SLA.- Ensure the NOC adheres to security policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
Operate and maintain the Network Monitoring Systems.
- Schedule, notify, and conduct network maintenance for infrastructure and customer services.
Hire, develop, and retain highly responsive, customer-focused engineers to ensure effective NOC operations.
- Manage tools, systems, and procedures to ensure effective issue management and customer satisfaction.
Provide necessary resources for priority and escalated cases as requested by the Incident Managers.
Serve as the point of contact in the NOC for all inquiries from Senior Leadership and other Managers.- Inform Management, partners, and customers about network performance and service availability.
Attend weekly Ops meetings to address any support issues raised by other departments.
- Provide technical details of issues to the Incident Managers.
Undertake any other related activities as directed by superiors
- Required Skills & Abilities
Technical expertise in the following areas is essential for success in this role:- IP Networks: Comprehensive understanding of IP networks, including VLANs.
Network Equipment: Proficiency with firewalls, switches, routers, and other network equipment (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Experience with backup procedures, disaster recovery, and high availability using industry standards.
Active Directory & Network Services: Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy management.
