Job Description
The opportunity
The head of investment is responsible for general account investment decision, portfolio management and performance monitoring. This includes developing and implementing investment strategies, sourcing and analyzing sustainable alpha opportunities, leading cross-functional teams for investment initiatives, ensuring compliance of portfolio risk limits, monitoring market trends, and participating in relevant committees such as ALCO and IC.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio management and performance monitoring
- Develop and implement investment strategies for a multiple asset class portfolio aligned with the portfolio's objective, risk tolerance and regulatory compliance.
- Seek and analyze sustainable alpha opportunity and build the infrastructure for the portfolio to participate
- Ensure the risk limits applicable to the portfolios are properly maintained and monitored to avoid breaches (pre & post trades). If there are breaches, proper actions must be taken immediately for rectification
- Oversee portfolio managers to ensure common understanding of the portfolio objectives and risk limits
- Drive investment decision to achieve optimal asset allocation, diversification, performance analysis and risk-return analysis
- Lead cross-functional teams for investment initiatives
- Collaborate effectively with regional and global cross-functional teams and stakeholder on local investment need and project updates
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, liaise with peers to understand the latest industry trend and lead the investment effort to be the leader of the industry
- Monitor and interpret macroeconomic and market trends, providing regular updates and insights to support the company's investment and risk management strategies
- Chair the investment committee (IC) and participate in asset liability committee (ALCO) to opine on investment related issues
- Lead any other investment-related projects and other tasks

What We Are Looking For
- A master's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field is required.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) certification will be useful.
- A strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, and asset classes is essential. This includes knowledge of equities, fixed income, derivatives, alternative investments, and risk management.
- Leadership and management skills: As a senior executive role, a head of investments should possess strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills. Experience in overseeing investment is often required.
- Regulatory and compliance knowledge: A solid understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the investment and insurance industry is important for ensuring that investment strategies and activities adhere to legal and ethical guidelines.
- Strong team spirit, flexibility & discipline to be a dependable contributor to a virtue team is a must. The individual must have strong technical skill and open mind to build the presence in person and virtually.
