Head of Engineering - Shared Services

The Shared Services Engineering Head leads the Business IT division's engineering teams, delivering cutting-edge software solutions to support core business segments. The role entails defining and executing the engineering strategy, providing technical leadership, and managing software development processes from concept to deployment. As a key leader, the Engineering Head will inspire and coach a top-tier engineering organization, ensuring the team thrives in a competitive environment while meeting strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the engineering teams within the Business IT division, driving the overall IT engineering strategy.
- Provide strong technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to elevate the performance and skill set of the team.
- Build and manage world-class engineering teams to deliver top-tier software solutions.
- Oversee the planning and execution of software development projects, ensuring adherence to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Partner with senior management and stakeholders to define overall engineering strategy and approach to meet business and project goals.
- Act as the business unit's IT engineering expert, contributing to key projects and providing technical guidance to management and stakeholders.
- Develop and enforce engineering policies, processes, and standards in alignment with the organization's overall framework.
- Ensure that systems remain up-to-date by leveraging the latest technologies, addressing application, OS, and database end-of-life (EOL) or end-of-support (EOS) issues, vulnerabilities, and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with various IT groups, such as Patch Management, Systems Admin, and Database Administration (DBA), to ensure consistent system health and performance.
- Oversee all phases of software development to deliver reliable, high-performance IT applications/systems that meet business requirements.
- Invest in the career growth of the engineering team by creating opportunities for advancement through training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top technical talent through effective talent management strategies, including succession planning, goal setting, and performance measurement.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement within the team to ensure consistent development of skills and capabilities.
- Drive continuous innovation within the engineering teams by staying updated on the latest industry trends and technologies.
- Identify and implement improvements in software engineering processes to ensure competitiveness against local and international institutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large organization.
- Proven track record in leading large-scale engineering teams and managing complex software development projects.
- Strong experience in designing, building, and running high-performance engineering teams.
- Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies, modern software engineering practices, and tools.
- Familiarity with banking or financial services technology is a plus.
