Job Description

Job Summary: The General Foreman will oversee and manage daily operations on construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role involves supervising construction workers, coordinating with subcontractors, managing resources, and maintaining a safe work environment. The General Foreman will act as a key point of contact between the construction team and project management.
  • Key Responsibilities:
Site Management:
  • Oversee daily operations on construction sites, ensuring that work is carried out according to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
Coordinate and schedule work activities to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Manage and supervise a team of construction workers, ensuring productivity and quality of work.
Resource Coordination:
  • Ensure that materials, equipment, and manpower are available and properly utilized.
Monitor inventory levels and order materials as needed to avoid delays.
  • Maintain and inspect equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on site.
Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Quality Control:
  • Monitor work progress and inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
Address and resolve any issues or defects in construction work.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
Team Leadership:
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to construction workers and subcontractors.
Foster a positive work environment and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise among team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the construction team and project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and any changes to scope or schedule.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required, including daily progress reports and incident reports.
Problem Solving:
  • Address and resolve any issues or delays that arise during construction.
Troubleshoot problems with construction methods, materials, or equipment.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and adjust plans as needed.
  • Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or degree in construction management or related field preferred.
Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures.
