Job Description
Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, this position is responsible for accounts reconciliation and clearing of exceptions, generation of reports, processing of manual journal entries and other ad-hoc duties. The accounts to be managed by this position are quite big and complex. The role involves intensive interaction, communication and constant follow-ups with the Operations Team to resolve issues. On any given day, there are least 50 exceptions that would require actions to keep the account in good standing by the end of the reporting period. These tasks are time sensitive and critical to our monthly period close off processes as it impacts the production of various financial reports within RPS Finance.
Under general supervision, responsible for moderately complex accounting activities, such as creating standard journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with the preparation of state filings, footnotes, and financial statement pages. Responsible as well for basic analysis with respect to specific areas of focus. - Demonstrates basic analytical and inquiry skills.

- Effective interaction and communication skills to communicate issues to management and collaborate with colleagues.
- Demonstrates a commitment to attain a working knowledge of accounting bases as they pertain to their current area of focus.
- Demonstrates a limited knowledge of the life insurance regulatory environment.
- Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of MS Excel and the Essbase add-in
- Demonstrates a commitment to understand Lawson accounting segments and Essbase roll ups.
- Demonstrates proficiency with JETS to create and post journal entries.

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience
- Typically, up to 3 years of experience.
