Job Description

Financial Recording and Reporting:
  • Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) on a regular basis.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Income Tracking and Analysis:
Monitor and analyze company income, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare forecasts and projections based on financial data to support business decisions.
  • Inventory Management:
Develop and maintain inventory tracking systems to accurately reflect stock levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and inventory valuation.
  • Reconcile physical inventory with financial records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Expense Oversight:
Track and categorize company expenses, ensuring proper allocation and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Review and approve expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Tax Monitoring and Compliance:
Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns (income tax, sales tax, etc.) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure the company's tax filings are up-to-date and compliant.
Provide guidance on tax planning strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities.
  • Financial Controls and Compliance:
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on analysis of financial data.
  • Assist in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
  • Proven experience (2 years) as a CPA or in a similar role, preferably in a startup or small business environment.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience with tax preparation and compliance.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance colleagues.
