Fashion Designer

GENERAL PURPOSE

Manages day-to-day product development activities including sample management, fit evaluation, construction review and assessment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct day-to-day product development activities particularly fit evaluation and construction review of all samples.

Document all comments and instructions with regards to fit, execution and construction

Assist in all vendor meetings.

Review and validate work sheets/ specs sheets prior to fan out.

Manage and maintain the sample tracking sheet as well as all departmental files and samples.

Discuss all adjustments with the assigned vendor together with representatives from merchandising and design.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

KNOWLEDGE

Garment Technology: Has very good technical understanding of the assigned product category; strong know-how and understanding of fiber and textile properties, garment construction and patterns.

Design: Has understanding of color and design principles; ability to do fashion sketches and illustrations.
