Job Purpose
The Designer plays a key role in translating fashion trends into commercially successful products. You will develop stylish designs for your assigned category/brand, collaborating with the rest of the merchandising team to ensure a cohesive brand image and achieve sales targets. Your responsibilities will encompass design, styling, and trend research, with a focus on exceeding customer expectations and maintaining our fashion leadership.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
I. Design and Trend Research:
- Conduct regular research and collaborate with the Creative Design Head and Merchandise Manager to identify upcoming fashion trends and directions.
- Assist in preparing mood boards and presentations for new collections.
- Translate trends into commercially viable designs that align with the brand identity, target market, pricing strategy, and customer preferences.
- Develop design concepts and prepare technical worksheets for prototypes.
- Participate in sample development and line planning meetings.
II. Styling and Visual Merchandising:
- Style and dress models for e-commerce photoshoots, social media content, lifestyle campaigns, product shoots, and other events.
- Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to ensure product styling aligns with brand aesthetics across all channels.
- Conduct store visits with the merchandising team to gather customer feedback, assess product performance, and analyze competitor offerings.
III. Communication and Collaboration:
- Assist the Creative Design Head and Merchandise Manager during product presentations
- Effectively communicate design decisions and rationale to internal teams.
IV. Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain departmental files, including specification sheets, artwork, and samples.
- Travel and attend trade shows to identify potential new design inspirations for future seasons.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Designer in the fashion industry.
- Strong understanding of current fashion trends and forecasting.
- Excellent design skills with proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Ability to translate trends into commercially viable and market-relevant designs.
- Strong eye for detail and a keen sense of style.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
