Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Estimator who will play a critical role in accurately preparing tender submissions, cost estimates, and budgets for a wide range of faade projects, including curtain walls, window walls, and complex glazing systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in faade estimation, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This is a mid-level role, ideal for someone with strong industry experience but who is not yet looking for senior responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for faade works, including curtain walls, window walls, architectural glazing, aluminium windows/doors, and other faade systems.
- Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and structural documentation to develop accurate estimates.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating.
- Analyse tender documents, proposals, and contracts to identify project risks, key requirements, and cost impacts.
- Source pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive and accurate costing for all faade materials and services.
- Prepare and submit tenders and bids within specified timeframes.
- Assist in the review of post-tender clarifications and negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, new materials, and construction methodologies related to faade construction.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ yearsof experience in estimating, with a specific focus on faade construction (curtain walls, glazing, window walls, etc.).
- Solid understanding of the faade industry, including materials, fabrication methods, and installation processes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience with Australian construction codes and standards, particularly in relation to faade and glazing systems.
- Proficient in estimating software Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in preparing estimates and tender submissions.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in both commercial faade projects.
- Familiarity with sustainability and energy-efficiency standards in faade systems.
- Experience in negotiation and post-tender processes.
