FAADE JUNIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - Engineering Department- Employment Status: Project-Based (duration is co-terminus with the project)

Duties and Responsibilities:_
The Faade Junior Structural Engineer is to manage and provide formal documentations for the structural calculations for all structural components of all the faade wall types.
To initiate decisions and corrective measures for all structural issues, where necessary, during the process of shop and fabrication drawing works. Each significant decision or corrective measure is to be properly recorded and discussed with the SCSI Faade Designers and SCSI Senior Structural Engineers.
The Faade Junior Structural Engineer is to ensure that necessary approvals of structural calculations from the project or Client Structural Engineers are satisfied in timely manner considering the integral due dates of shop and fabrication submissions.
The Faade Junior Structural Engineer is to actively participate and provide inputs in the structural design process for the shop-drawings, fabrication drawings and all other tasks pertaining to structural documentations to complete the deliverables under their responsibility. Must have a good working knowledge in curtain wall design issues, i.e., architectural requirements, structural requirements, project scope, faade design intent development, requirements as per specifications, programme and cost value engineering.
The position is based in the Manila office.
I. Qualifications:
A. Administration
- General
a. Documents: Review the architectural drawings, faade architectural design intent, structural drawings, and job specifications.
b. Correspondences: Review and respond to all correspondences for the project and initiate correspondence or RFI (Request for Information) where necessary to ensure completeness of the requirements for the structural deliverables. The correspondences must be structured and filed to be coordinated with the Project Manager and/or Document Controller.
c. Progress Reporting: Provide actual progress or status report of works, delays, schedules of resources and how to distributed workloads to structural team members.
d. Meetings: Conduct timely meetings with design team members when necessary. Attend meetings as advised or required by Project Manager and Senior Faade Structural Engineer.
- Design
a. Programme: Ensure that structural design works are to be finish and submitted within the scheduled time frame required for the project.
- Quality
a. Quality - to initiate, develop, interact with SCSI team members to ensure that all structural results are correctly reflected on the shop and fabrication drawings.
b. The structural results reflected on all drawing documentations are to be assured, checked and signed-off by the SCSI Structural Engineering Team before drawing finalization and release for submissions.
c. To ensure that structural design works developed are well understood by the designers involved in the task.
B. Management
- Communication: Continually familiarize oneself with the progress of all of the delegated submittal document packages of the project by communicating with the Clients and/or SCSI external and internal coordinators. To conduct review and QA-checked of all works done by his structural team members.
- Team Work: Support other team members working on other packages as advised and required by the Project Manager and Senior Faade Structural Engineer.
- Attitude: Actively initiate and participate in problem awareness and problem solving, to positively cooperate, support and guide the other members of the project team and promote and encourage the Partnering Philosophy at all times.
- Motivate: Demonstrate leadership among all structural teams, support and motivate.
II. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide structural calculation documentations that include structural computer modelling, hand calculations, and finite element analysis satisfying structural requirements as per job specifications.
- To coordinate with the designers all structural issues and provide solutions to address the issues.
- To ensure that structural calculations documentation will be finished and be submitted within the required scheduled submissions due dates.
- To coordinate the work with the Senior Faade Structural Engineer and ensure that all structural project requirements are properly addressed.
- To generate RFI (Request for Information) documents to be issued to the Client to avoid incorrect information.
- To ensure that all required deliverables are satisfactorily provided and submitted to the Client.
- To prepare or review important correspondences prepared and coordinated by the design team in case of major or minor structural issues.
- Review curtain wall specifications and ensure that all relevant and correct information pertaining to the project are properly incorporated.
- Assist in entitlements and claims by identifying and substantiating the intended claims or variation orders.
- Follow up with the flow of information.

- Review drawings completed by the design Team before submissions.
- Coordinate with the ALT Mechanical Engineers who performed the thermal performance calculations of the faade system. Take the lead to achieve timely submission of thermal calculations documentations (performed by the ALT Mechanical Engineers) to the Client.
- Coordinate with or inform the Project Manager or Faade Senior Structural Engineer or Faade Designers of any problems that may arise while developing the system.
- Coordinate with the Faade Senior Structural Engineer or with the individuals involved in the project such as Clients or Client Representative, SCSI design team members, etc. when requesting the necessary structural information needed during the phase of works.
- As instructed by the Project Manager and Faade Senior Structural Engineer, attend coordination meetings whenever needed.
- Must be able to stay late in the office to finish unfinished works to satisfy scheduled due submittals.
III. Skills and Specifications:
- Can do frame modelling using structural computer models.
- Can do finite element analysis to investigate requirements for stresses, reaction loads, deflections, etc.
- Be able to assess the correctness of the computer models.
- Knowledgeable with Mathcad software.
- Knowledgeable with Staadpro structural software.
- Has good quality of work.
- Understand the requirements of structural system design intent of the faade walls.
- Knows how to manage the task of works assigned.
- Can handle multiple tasks as required by the project and can handle pressure without supervision.
- Has good communication skills (in English).
IV. Education and Experience:
- At least 3 years and above experience in curtain wall industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

Pay: Php20,000.00 - Php30,000.00 per month
Schedule: - 8 hour shift
