FAADE JUNIOR DESIGNER - Engineering Department- Employment Status: Project-Based (duration is co-terminus with the project)
- Official work schedule is from Monday to Saturday (9AM to 6PM).

LIAISE WITH: Client, Architect, Project Consultants, Project Manager, Faade Senior Designers, Other Faade Junior Designers, Faade Senior Fabrication Detailers, Senior Structural Engineers, Mechanical Engineers

Duties and Responsibilities:_
The Faade Junior Designer is responsible to ensure all deliverables for the assigned design and fabrication work packages shall be satisfied considering the correctness of the documents and required scheduled time frame.
To initiate decisions and corrective measures where necessary during the shop and fabrication drawing works. Each significant decision or corrective measure is to be properly recorded and discussed with the Project Manager and Senior Faade Designer.
The Faade Junior Designer is to assist the Project Manager and Senior Faade Designer in monitoring the progress of the project by providing information relative to schedules, planned and actual progress of its assigned works.
The Faade Junior Designer is to actively participate and provide inputs in the design process for the shop drawings, fabrication drawings, quantity take-offs and all other task to complete the deliverables under their responsibility. Must have a good working knowledge in curtain wall design issues, i.e., architects requirements, structural requirements, project scope, faade design intent development, requirements as per specifications, programme and cost value engineering.
The position is based in the Manila office.

Skills and Qualifications:_
A. Administration
- General
a. Documents: Review the architectural drawings, faade architectural design intent, structural drawings and job specifications.
b. Correspondences: Review and respond to all correspondences for the project and initiate correspondence or RFI (Request for Information) where necessary to ensure completeness of the requirements for the drawing deliverables. The correspondences must be structured and filed to be coordinated with the Project Manager and/or Document Controller.
c. Progress Reporting: Provide actual progress or status report of works, delays, schedules of resources and how to distributed workloads to design team members.
d. Meetings: Conduct timely meetings with team members when necessary. Attend meetings as advised or required by the Project Manager and Senior Faade Design Designer.
- Design
a. Design Programme: Ensure that design works developed are well understood by the team members involved in the task.
- Quality
a. Quality: Initiate, develop, interact with SCSI team members to ensure that all documents (such as material take offs, correctness of shop drawings, fabrication drawings, die drawings etc.) are all checked before finalization and release for submissions.
B. Management
- Communication: Continually familiarize oneself with the progress of all of the delegated submittal document packages of the project by communicating with the Clients and/or external and internal coordinators. To conduct review and QA-checked of all works done by his team members.
- Team Work: Support other design team members working on other packages as advised and required by the Project Manager and Senior Faade Designer.
- Attitude: Actively initiate and participate in problem awareness and problem solving, to positively cooperate, support and guide the other members of the project team and promote and encourage the Partnering Philosophy at all times.
- Motivate: Demonstrate leadership among all the design team members, support and motivate.
I. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide external faade shop drawings that include design details satisfying architectural requirements, structural requirements and weather tightness.
- Provide die or extrusion drawings.
- Provide fabrication drawings and material take-offs.
- To coordinate the work and assist the Design Team to ensure that all project requirements are properly addressed.
- To generate RFI (Request for Information) documents to be issued to the Client to avoid incorrect information.
- To ensure that all required deliverables are satisfactorily provided and submitted to client.
- To prepare or review important correspondences prepared by the Design Team in case of major design issues.
- Review curtain wall specifications and ensure that all relevant and correct information pertaining to the project are properly incorporated.
- Assist in entitlements and claims by identifying and substantiating the intended claims or variation orders.
- Follow up with the flow of information.
a. From the Architect

e. From SCSI team members in general
- With the available information from the architectural drawings, building code and building requirements, prepare sketches or the conceptual/intent for the curtain wall design of the typical wall using an applicable system.
- In collaboration with the Design Team, prepare design details that is functional that targets the following criteria:
a. Quantity
b. Re-glaze and deglaze
c. Tolerances
d. Weather tightness
e. Structural adequacy
f. Movements
g. Installation considerations
h. Thermal performances
- Review drawings completed by the team.
- Supervises the preparations of shop drawings, die drawings, fabrication drawings, material take-offs, QA/QC process and other tasks to complete the deliverables.
- Coordinate with or inform the Project Manager and Senior Faade Designer of any problems that may arise while developing the system.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, Senior Faade Designer or with the individuals involved in the project such as Clients or Client Representatives, SCSI design team members, etc. when requesting the necessary information needed during the phase of works.
- Review all drawings prepared by the team.
- As instructed by the Project Manager and Senior Faade Designer, attend coordination meetings whenever needed.
- Must be able to stay late in the office to finish unfinished works to satisfy scheduled due submittals.
II. Skills & Specifications:
- Can do sketches (AutoCad or by hand) for design faade details.
- Has knowledge in AutoCad 2D/3D.
- Knowledge in Revit and/or Rhino is an advantage.
- Preference on knowledge in using Inventor software for the production of fabrication drawings.
- Preference on knowledge in using Revit software for the production of shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Has good quality of work.
- Understand the requirements of functional, structural and architectural design intent of the faade walls.
- Knows how to manage the task of works assigned.
- Can monitor progress of works.
- Can handle multiple task of works as required by his/her superiors and can handle pressure with or without supervision.
- Can monitor projects with less supervision.
- Has good communication skills (in English).
III. Education/Experience:
- At least 4 to 5 years of experience in curtain wall industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture.
