- Position Summary:
The Engineering Department Head is responsible for leading, managing, and providing direction to the Engineering Team to ensure the efficient operations and performance of assigned job / project. The Engineering Department Head will oversee various projects, promote adherence to safety and top quality standards, and spearhead innovations and continuous improvements in technology and processes. S/he will also ensure a stable supply of utilities, compliance with government regulatory requirements, and maintenance of facilities.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop the Engineering team members by demonstrating, teaching, and applying engineering principles and technical problem-solving- Plan, coordinate, and execute projects to meet production targets and quality standards
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hot-end and cold-end)
- Establish, implement, and ensure compliance with the department procedures, standards of work, including the formulation of relevant documentation
Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness- Conduct regular performance analysis of the processes in the department and if necessary, troubleshoot to address issues and inefficiencies
Develop, implement, and oversee maintenance programs to ensure machinery and equipment within the department are performing optimally
- Establish preventive maintenance schedules, conduct inspections, and coordinate with the concerned department needed repairs, troubleshooting, or upgrades
Ensure that the plant control systems are properly maintained- Ensure the plant's compliance with government mandated safety regulations, environmental standards, and other production regulations, as well as implement industry-best practices in all plant activities
Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and monitor adherence relative to safety protocols
- Ensure stable supply of utilities (i.e. water, air, electricity)
Recommend personnel actions to people in the department- Submit monthly reports to the Plant Manager regarding project updates, utilities monitoring and consumption, facilities status and/or improvement
Submit proposed budget targets for utilities consumption, maintenance, and other projects
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
Must be a licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, preferable with experience in project management
- Proven experience in Engineering leadership roles within a production / manufacturing industry, preferable glass production
Thorough technical knowledge of glass manufacturing processes, technologies, and equipment- Track record of successfully delivering complex projects within the given timeframe and budget
Solid understanding of safety, quality, and environmental regulations and requirements relevant to industrial operations
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
Exceptional skills in complex problem-solving, decision-making, and judgement- Willing to follow a 6-day work week arrangement
