Essential Technical Responsibilities
- Perform multiple possible CAD design duties listed as follow:
- Complete detailed high voltage substation (Air & GIS) switchyard physical design packages encompassing operating single line diagrams, general arrangements, elevations, calculations, cable and bus selections, ground grid, cable tray/trench/duct bank, lighting, lightning protection, prefabricated control building layouts, AC/DC station service supply, voltage drop, conduit/cable tray fill, bill of materials, etc.
- Complete detailed high voltage substations (Air & GIS) protection and control design packages encompassing P&C single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc.
- Interface with internal and external team members including electrical engineers, electrical designers, drafters, project managers, and take ownership of the project to meet and exceed client expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of diploma or bachelor's degree in drafting / electrical design
- 3+ years related experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, and/or AutoCAD Map3D in power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), renewable energy, or power generation
- Strong CAD skills with experience utilizing layers, blocks, XREFs, coordinate systems, annotations, and dimensioning while abiding by company and industry drafting standards
- Ability to work on multi-discipline projects
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Excellent computer skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and make recommendations
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment
- Self-motivated and work with minimal guidance
- 3D Modeling experience a plus
- Experience with PVcase, PVCAD a plus
- Knowledge of renewable energy industry relating to utility scale wind and solar projects, such as MV power systems and AC/DC distribution system a plus
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems a plus
- Understanding of applicable industry codes and standards including the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, CSA a plus
- Manufacturer experience of power transformer, circuit breaker, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverter, etc. a plus
