WSP Middle East is looking for an HV and LV Electrical Designer/Draftsman with a minimum of 10 years of experience to join our team.
This position will ensure electrical design, including BIM standards when needed; conformance to WSP policies and guidelines to create, develop, and modify models and drawings; generate and compile construction documents; and coordinate with internal team members to ensure project deliverables and deadlines are met. The position is to support the engineering team of NEOM Energy greenfield projects, related to both HV and LV electrical drafting of diverse assets of 400KV transmission substations.
Your new role, what's involved
- Prepare detailed secondary systems designs for substations including schematics, panel layouts, label schedules, room arrangements, cable plans, network architectures etc.
- Performs electrical layout design using knowledge of relevant software programs primarily AutoCAD or MicroStation including underground power utilities and substations.
- Ensure work is completed on time and in accordance with quality assurance requirements.
- Verify primary (HV) and secondary systems (LV) designs in specific areas of design competency e.g drafting quality and guidelines.
- Developing and maintaining BIM models and drawings.
- Perform clash detection and resolve conflicts in Revit.
- Manage and store BIM files and related documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of tender / design documents to support external work bids and clients.
- Assist in the development and improvement of efficient design drafting work practices.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.
- Assists in the preparation of engineering project documents, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Prepares site assessments, facilitates permitting processes.
- Support and train other team members in day-to-day activities including routine technical design, processing, and company procedures.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in transmission (HV power) 400KV HV substations layout and LV schematics
- Experience in (HV power) HV 400KV substations layout and LV schematics serving SEC/National Grid and/or other utilities in Middle East. Requires understanding and proficiency of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Knowledge of Engineering/Design Standards and Codes
- Understanding of concepts of relevant areas of electrical engineering design.
- Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various elements
- Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks and manage time appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- Experience and a willingness to undertake quality control of drawing packages to support the principal engineer.
- Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other members of the design team
- Fluent in English with writing, oral and speaking.
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline that covered sufficiently computer aided design and drafting technology, or electrical engineering technology. Minimum 10 years of related drafting/design experience is required.
- Additional qualifications related to BIM will be greatly valued.
