Description
Job Purpose
The Director, Finance will be responsible for all accounting-related activities. The Director, Finance will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handling the collection, analysis, and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control system, and lead department staff.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensures sound internal financial management control systems and procedures are in place.
- Monitors variances, summarizes trends and investigates budget deficiencies.
- Leads preparation of ongoing required financial statements and operating reports ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues.
- Oversees and ensures timely and accurate processing of transactions and accounting data and ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
- Preparing and publishing the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
- Complete the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
- Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Set, monitor and implement organizational financial reporting control.
- Develops and documents accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Work with the Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
- Assist the Vice President, Finance and Administration in the daily banking requirements.
- Provide training and development for new and existing staff.
- Support the Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration with special projects and workflow process improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in progressively responsible accounting roles, 3 of which will have been in an accounting management capacity
- In depth understanding of accounting and business concepts
- Strong leadership, stakeholders management and analytical skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and financial software
- Strong English communication skills
- Highly organized and able to function efficiently in a fast-paced environment
