The Designer (Secondary Systems) prepares designs and drawings of secondary infrastructure of high voltage (HV) systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DESIGN
- Develop detailed secondary system drawings in conjunction with engineers and technical officers.
Ensure technical / engineering designs are compliant with standards and specifications.- Ensure compliance with company/client Quality Policies and Procedures.
Assist with the preparation of tenders.
- Assist with design management as required.
Detailed substation secondary systems design and documentation as required.- Assistance with commissioning of HV Secondary Systems as required.
Provide technical and engineering design assistance to project managers and project engineers; assist in resolving technical problems arising on projects.
- Provide technical leadership, advising, and consulting as required.
Provide technical / engineering design input and assistance as required.- Check drawings for compliance with client requirements and standards, and to ensure completeness prior to issuing for manufacturing/construction.
Assist with the preparation of tender designs.
- Manage the flow of documents and information to clients, suppliers, and related third parties.
Maintain and update the design office technical library.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
- Must have a Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent.
Chartered / Professional Engineer and RFEQ (ideal)
Technical
- Significant experience as a design drafter (as a guide 5+ years)
Proficiency in CAD-based software
Professional- A logical and practical approach to work.
High levels of attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver to agreed timeframes.
Outcome and customer-focused.- Ability to liaise with client engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within an Australian utility and with renewable grid connection
