Job Title: Dental Billing Analyst
The Dental Biller will be responsible for accurately posting payments, managing insurance claims, and ensuring the financial health of the dental practice through effective billing practices.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Payment Posting:
Accurately post payments made by patients and reconcile all payments received through various methods, using dental practice management software.Insurance Claims Management:
Follow up on non-paid insurance claims, manage late payments and overdue accounts, and ensure timely processing of all claims.Billing Code Management: Collaborate with dental coders, assistants, and hygienists to translate treatment plans into accurate billing codes and prepare and submit claims to insurance companies.
- Auditing and Reporting: Audit clinical notes by treatment coordinators, ensure accuracy in treatment plan postings, and manage bluebooks to verify that all payments and treatments are recorded and match the end-of-day report.
Patient Interaction:
Answer patient inquiries regarding billing, insurance claims, and payments, and provide necessary information to patients and other healthcare professionals as needed.Compliance:
Use, protect, and disclose patients protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality at all times and uphold a professional attitude in all interactions.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.
Mentoring other team members when needed.- Act cooperatively and courteously with patients, visitors, co-workers, management and clients.
Use, protect and disclose patients protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
- Work independently from assigned work queues.

Other duties as assigned by the management team.
5+ years experience in insurance collections, including submitting and following up on claims for a US-based Dental Practice or Dental Services Organization. Prior Dental billing experience required.
- Dental/Professional Billing: 2 years
Proficient in denied claims and appeals processes.- Proficient skills in navigating multiple payer websites, including but not limited to, Delta Dental, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna, MetLife, NaviNet, Availity, and the respective Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, and Medicaid sites, depending on the states where the clients are located.
Preferred certifications from the American Dental Coders Association (ADCA), Dental Claims Academy, or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) with a focus on dental billing.
- Proficient in Dental Terminology, CDT Codes, and Dental Procedure Modifiers.
Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.- Proficient skills in MS Office. Must have Excel skillset.
Proficient skills in multiple dental practice management systems, preferably Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Open Dental, Carestream, and/or PracticeWorks.
- Strong communication skills/oral and written.
Strong organizational skills and must be detail oriented.
