Database Administrator

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Database Monitoring and Maintenance

Monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance

Accountable for maintaining database configurations in compliance with established best

practices

Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the

general application functionality used to maintain data integrity

Work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments

Work in conjunction with other IT, application development, and business groups to

understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements

from the database perspective

2. Troubleshooting and Analysis

Responsible for investigating potential problems and issues raised

Work with the team to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid

response to known issues

Oversee data fixes for business issues or to address application issues

Conduct growth analysis & capacity planning in cooperation with Development teams and

Support Organization

Accountability for proper backup and disaster recovery procedures

Provide off-hours production support

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or

equivalent

At least 2-3 years of recent solid experience in Microsoft SQL Database Administration

Work Experience

Experience in defining/analyzing ERDs, data models, and physical database designs

Must have knowledge with Microsoft SQL Server Administration (Maintenance

Plans/Tuning)

Can provide in depth performance tuning for databases

Strong experience supporting mission critical relational databases

Has good knowledge in supporting ETL/Data Warehouse applications

• Strong T-SQL and DTS knowledge
