Job Summary
The Database Administrator will manage teams of technologists with a focus on resource management, workforce planning, and issue resolution. This role involves managing onboarding and executing technical and business projects across multiple stakeholders, developing analyses to support process and project improvements/efficiency, and using leadership and coaching skills to build high-performing teams. It delivers high impact to the organization through proactive IT operations focused on infrastructure reliability.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for onboarding and executing technical and business projects across multiple stakeholders, developing analyses to support process and project improvements/efficiency
- Facilitation and problem-solving
- Leadership and coaching skills to build high-performing teams
- Work with teams to drive issue resolution
- Provide leadership support for small groups and teams
- Regional variations: resource management, recruiting, hiring, workforce planning, contractor engagement, etc.
- Coordinate across stakeholders to resolve moderately complex issues
- Execute on resource planning, assist with management activities
- Coach technology teams as needed
Qualifications:
- Technical leadership qualities to serve as an escalation resource and mentor for L1 Engineers.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes
- Related experience working in a distributed systems environment, with a deep understanding of how distributed systems work and its different layers in infrastructure, network, platform, and how microservices work together
- Hands-on experience with any Database Infrastructure Services (MSSQL, Oracle, Mongo, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, DB2)
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Basic knowledge of Monitoring, Alerting, and Observability Concepts and Technologies
- Basic knowledge of IT Incident Management processes
- Basic knowledge of Cloud Computing Platforms and Technologies
- Ability to work across Project Management and Resource Management to manage multiple demands with a specific focus
- Basic intake and demand planning
- Self-sufficient, self-starter with proven success in taking strong ownership of projects
- Ability to work through complex engineering obstacles using debugging and problem-solving skills
- Experienced in creating training materials for the development of teammates, as well as writing Runbooks or documentation of methods and procedures with guaranteed effectiveness
