Position Overview
Karbon is looking for a passionate, self-starting Database Administrator (DBA) in our new office in Manila! This role will have a strong database focus, with a high level of engagement with Product, Development, and Support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Expertly manage SQL Server databases and data assets within the Azure cloud environment, overseeing their development and administration.
- Implement robust database monitoring, fine-tuning performance, and automating recurring administrative tasks to ensure optimal database functionality.
- Responsible for handling upgrades and maintenance across non-production and production database instances, providing crucial support to the development team during sprint and release management phases.
- Lead the establishment and execution of backup strategies, high availability solutions, and disaster recovery protocols. Respond to ad-hoc data extraction requests, document processes, collaborate with Support teams, and troubleshoot live issues. Additionally, actively participate in executive data projects and DevOps initiatives, alongside regular operational responsibilities. Flexibility to participate in an on-call roster to address Priority 1 issues is required.
Qualifications
We are looking for software engineers with the following skills:
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience specifically with Microsoft SQL Server, demonstrating proficiency in database development and administration.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills alongside a track record of effectively collaborating with product, development, and Level 3 Support teams in previous roles.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge and practical experience with the Microsoft technology stack, with cloud experience considered advantageous.
- Display a meticulous attention to detail coupled with adaptability to navigate evolving environments and requirements.
- Showcase a strong customer-centric approach, aligning with organizational objectives, and embodying qualities of an analytical thinker, capable of multitasking and prioritizing effectively. Additionally, express enthusiasm for continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging technologies, while contributing as a passionate team player.
