The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Data Engineer - Snowflake based in Philippines, to join our Group Technology Team.

Reporting to the Head of IT Strategy, Architecture & Governance, the Data Engineer will be primarily responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data warehouse solutions with Snowflake. Secondarily, this role will involve supporting the integration of ETL processes using Microsoft tools (Azure Data Factory, LogicApps etc.) into the Snowflake ecosystem.

Knowledge of data visualization through Power BI would also be desirable to ensure provision of available, reliable, and structured datasets from Snowflake for both reporting and analysis purposes.

This role requires extensive knowledge of data engineering processes, data modelling, data warehousing, and business intelligence best practices. A successful candidate will be able to transform complex business needs into efficient, scalable, and secure data pipelines solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Primary - Data Warehouse Development And Management

  • Design and manage data warehouse solutions in Snowflake, ensuring data integrity, optimization, and security.
  • Maintain and improve the performance of the data warehouse to meet the reporting and analytical needs of the business.
  • Ensure Snowflake environment is optimized to integrate with upstream data-sources.
  • Support Data Governance and Quality within the Snowflake environment.

Secondary - Data Integration / ETL And Visualization Support


  • Collaborate with internal and external integration specialists to identify data requirements and co-design data integration solutions.
  • Consume output datasets from various internal and external sources into Snowflake as processed using Microsoft tools such as Azure Data Factory and LogicApps.
  • Familiarity with other ETL tools such as Alteryx would also be beneficial.
  • Ensure that Power BI reports deliver accurate, real-time data insights through providing appropriate reporting datasets.

Collaboration With Business And IT Teams


  • Work closely with business units including finance, marketing, supply chain, and sales to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Liaise with data governance teams to ensure adherence to best practices in data management and security.

Documentation And Compliance


  • Maintain documentation for all data pipelines, transformations, and visualizations, ensuring clarity and consistency for both technical teams and end-users.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and industry standards related to data security and compliance.
  • Previous experience with CSV and GxP requirements would be a plus.

About You


To be successful in this role, you will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and managing data warehouses in Snowflake.

Other Key Requirements For This Role Include

  • Snowflake Certification (SnowPro Core and/or other Advanced Certifications) a plus but not mandatory.
  • Hand-on experience building data-pipelines in Snowflake with SQL and/or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Data Governance in Snowflake including compliance, security, privacy and access
  • Ideally, experience with developing data-centric capabilities using Python in Snowpark and/or applications with StreamLit.
  • Experience with ETL tools with a focus on Snowflake Integration, particularly within the Microsoft stack (Azure Data Factory & Logic Apps).
  • Experience in building datasets to enable reports and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Experience with data integration from cloud platforms and various APIs a plus.
  • Effective Communication Skills (Written & Verbal).
  • Personal accountability for outcomes and providing high-quality service to business users
  • A strong work ethic and a well-organized self-starter.
  • Optimistic can do personality.
  • Be open to change and willing to learn new skills.
  • An ability to follow up on pending issues and meet deadlines.
