About the role:

A Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data architecture and infrastructure needed to support an organization's data processing and analytics needs. They work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop efficient and scalable solutions for data ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis. Data Engineers are responsible for ensuring data quality, security, and reliability while optimizing the performance of data pipelines. Effective communication and collaborative work behavior are essential when managing stakeholder expectations and delivering data solutions that meet business objectives.

Main Activities:

• Performs data profiling
• Manage data pipelines and ETL
• Conducts data cleansing / data wrangling
• Execute metadata documentation and metadata management

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data processing systems, including ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and requirements and translate them into technical specifications and data models.
• Develop and maintain data quality and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
• Optimize data processing systems for performance and scalability and ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
• Design and implement data security and privacy policies and ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems for data pipelines and platforms and ensure proactive issue identification and resolution.
• Stay up to date with the latest data engineering trends and technologies, and evaluate and recommend new tools and frameworks to improve data processing and analysis capabilities.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to support their data needs and enable advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities.

Skills & Experience:

• Proficiency in ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of SQL scripting and Python.
• Experience with data profiling, wrangling, and validation processes.
• Skilled in optimizing data processing systems for performance and scalability.
• Knowledge of data security, privacy policies, and governance.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting systems for data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data architecture and infrastructure.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and clients to deliver data solutions that align with business needs.
