The Role
The Customs Associate manages the Company's internal item set-up for related customs fields, oversees the customs operations and manages external partners to ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods between international borders according to regulatory requirements.
What You'll Do
- Implement process with internal and external partners for the timely and accurate item setup
- Maintain system records for all items and update as needed per change in laws or opportunities
- Create process around the preparation of import/export documentation
- Ensure compliance with regulations and assist in resolving any issues related to clearance
- Track goods while en route, ensuring timely resolution of any problems to avoid delays
- Coordinate customs clearance activities in an efficient manner
- Sends information/document requests to company's employees, suppliers, service providers and/or U.S. government agencies as needed
- Communicates with specific offices, departments, and teams on all issues affecting customs clearance
- Coordinates shipping details with U.S. forwarders, steamship lines, airlines, agents, etc
Skills & Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in customs and logistics
- Experience in creating process around data management
- Excellent English communication proficiency; listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
- Strong data analysis and processing ability
- NetSuite system experience preferred
- Proactive, well organized, logical thinking skills with proven ability to drive process improvement
- Excellent negotiation skills
- This is a fully remote position.
- Working hours Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm EST
