Job Summary
- Provides independent evaluation of credit proposals by validating financial statements and generating risk rating of individual borrowers.
- Prepares credit management reports needed by BSP and other external parties in their review of the bank's credit management controls. External parties include investors as IFC, Rating agencies such as Moody's, Fitch and S&P and external auditors such as Punong Bayan and SGV. Failure to pass their standards/evaluation may result in monetary penalties, sanctions, downgrade in rating and loss of bank's capital.
How will you contribute
- Evaluates creditworthiness of all borrowing accounts above P1OM except those with secured 1:1, Bills Purchase and counterparty credit lines, through an evaluation of financial statements, management competence and industry condition and prospects, to serve as a management tool for credit decisions and basis of valuation reserves to comply with BSP and Basel II requirements.
- Ensures availability of individual credit risk rating of all accounts above P1OM except those with secured 1:1, Bills Purchase and counterparty credit lines prior to approval. Checks compliance with the credit policies and other internal and regulatory requirements of reviewed accounts.
- Ensures timeliness in risk rating the accounts by subjecting credit exposures to rating. Accounts subject to risk rating are reviewed annually co-terminus with the expiry of the credit facilities.
- Reviews the Aging of Past Due Report (APDA) on a monthly basis to assess the status of non-performing accounts, adjusts classifications if and when warranted by the latest developments.
- Conducts validation of cash flow projection for project financing and term loan proposal through review of cash flow projections and sensitivity analysis in order to determine viability and payment capacity of the project.
- Keeps abreast of updates on the Bank and BSP policies as stipulated in the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Program (MLPP) through circulars, required seminars/programs and adheres to said policies.
- Assists the Department Head in examining the Credit Application of accounts through identification of risk areas, proper packaging and compliance with policies and bulletins and regulatory requirements. Findings on any related deviations shall form part of the credit review report.
- Assists the Department Head in handling BSP examination of the Credit Risk of the bank in close coordination with the BSP Examiners and all Bank units involved such as CBG. Compliance Office and Loan Documentation to ensure that the Bank passes BSP examination and avoid undue sanctions including additional loan loss provisioning, prohibition from doing specific business transactions such as credit, treasury products and branch expansion, and penalties both monetary and administrative on senior officers of the Bank.
- Joins calls on clients engaged in critical industries/businesses to identify vulnerabilities and risk areas in order to make valid and intelligent recommendations.
- Performs additional functions specifically special projects that have to be finished within a limited time.
What will make you successful
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Accounting, Management, Business Administration, Financial Management or other finance-related courses.
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- With knowledge in account management or credit review, evaluating credit proposals, validating and analyzing financial statements, and generating risk ratings of individual borrowers.
- Good oral and written communication skills
