Objective:
To ensure reliable and efficient operation of the plant process control system (PCS), including instrumentation, control and automation systems from S95 Level 0 to Level 2 such as but not limited to asset management, data integrity and Computer System Validation (CSV) deliverables while ensuring compliance to relevant HSE and GxP related standards, and maintaining good employee relations and morale.
Reporting to: MES & Control Systems Lead
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and policies.
- Develop and maintain safe PCS maintenance work instruction, workflow, or procedure, and insure compliance to company QMS.
- Interpret existing performance of PCS identify areas of inefficiency that needs improvement and, design, develop, and recommend instrumentation and control system to meet those needs.
- Analyze, research, and optimize existing control and instrumentation system parameters (and recommend process parameters, if applicable) to ensure safe, and efficient plant operation.
- Troubleshoot various Level 0 (i.e., process analytics, I/O subsystems, and process instrumentation) related devices in accordance to schematic diagrams/ wirings and loop diagrams, and applicable standards.
- Utilize Endress + Hauser Netilion Asset Management System for monitoring smart instrumentation health, available spare parts, report generation of Heartbeat verifications, and documentation control.
- Support and troubleshoot (together with other fellow engineers - MES, Network, CET) Level 1 or Level 2 network or hardware related issues for control systems.
- Support MES Process Engineer or System Integrator in the SCADA/ DCS corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Initiate in-house verification and calibration of applicable instrumentation and control devices (i.e., loop check, PID tuning)
- Support, monitor, and approve implementation of external service and calibration of applicable process instrumentation and control devices to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
- Monitor component supplier, system integrator, and contractor project works including equipment installation and commissioning to ensure completion in accordance with agreed scope of work and requirements.
- Coordinate and engage component supplier, system integrator, or contractor in the preparation of equipment life cycle documentation deliverables (i.e., instrumentation drawings, data sheets, schematic diagrams/ wirings, loop diagrams).
- Monitor and submit related reports on maintenance and equipment status. Report any abnormalities and problems concerning the assigned task and make necessary recommendations if possible.
- Explore and evaluate instrumentation and control, or PCS-related technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation within manufacturing operations.
- Undertake assignments on projects or special initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), automation engineering, instrumentation and controls engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 to 3 years experience in handling control systems and automation technologies, preferably Siemens PCS 7, including PLC/ Controllers, HMIs, I/Os, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Analog, HART).
- At least 1 to 3 years experience in troubleshooting and calibrating/ configuring field devices such as but not limited to flow meters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, level switches, and pH and conductivity transmitters.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and technical writing
- [Optional]: Experience with designing control strategies and algorithms for complex manufacturing processes
- [Optional]: Familiarity in programming languages commonly used in control systems, such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram
- [Optional]: Instrumentation and Control Servicing (TESDA NC2), or Training on the Calibration for the requirements of ISO 17025
