We are seeking a Communications Officer with excellent organisational skills and creative abilities. The Communications Officer will work closely with the Media Director to develop and execute an innovative communication strategy to support LAMAVE's mission. They will manage LAMAVE's website and social media accounts, creating and publishing high-quality content that aligns with the LAMAVE brand and communication strategy.
To be successful as a Communications Officer, you should be comfortable working with different team members to communicate LAMAVE's research and conservation initiatives and enthusiastic about designing materials and collaborating on campaigns that align with wider NGO strategy goals such as fundraising, partnerships, volunteering and staff recruitment.
Responsibilities
Brand Management
- Collaborating with the Media Director in building a communications strategy annually
- Executing communication campaigns that support the organisation's strategic plans
- Creating, designing, and updating materials (e.g. posters, fact sheets, infographics, etc) in coordination with Project Leaders to help educate and empower different stakeholders to protect marine megafauna and their habitats
- Collaborating with department heads to create and develop marketing materials that support LAMAVE's needs, including fundraising, partnerships, volunteer and staff recruitment, etc.
- Ensuring all external materials are compliant with LAMAVE's Communications Policy
- Updating brand templates e.g. PowerPoint templates
Social Media Management
- Expanding the reach and engagement year on year of LAMAVE's social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and exploring opportunities on new platforms and current trends
- Curating and developing new unique, high-quality content for all of LAMAVE's social media platforms
- Managing LAMAVE's social media platforms including replying to messages, scheduling content, and engaging with posts
Website Management
- Managing the LAMAVE website ensuring that pages are up to date which includes writing news posts, coordinating volunteer blogs, and updating job listings, volunteering opportunities, and program pages
- Collaborating with the Media Director in writing and distributing press releases and LAMAVE news
- Corresponding to general enquiries on the LAMAVE website
- Crafting and scheduling newsletters and managing mailing lists
Qualifications
Essential
- Filipino citizen
- Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or other related fields
- At least 1 year of professional experience in digital marketing/social media management or a similar role
- Proven content writing and graphic design skills
- Fluent in English (Tagalog, Visayan, and other Filipino languages are a bonus)
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) or similar
- High-level proficiency in MS Office applications
- Has own desktop/laptop computer
- Ability to plan, balance, and cope with competing priorities
- Ability to work independently, manage projects, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines

Desirable
- Previous experience working with an NGO
- Passionate about conserving marine megafauna, their habitats, and the local communities they support
- Experience in using Canva
- Experience in using Squarespace
- Experience in using photo-editing software such as Lightroom
- Ability to communicate complex, science-based information to audiences ranging from the general public to the scientific community
