CNC Milling Programmer

ROLE:

• Read blueprints and technical drawings to set up machines based on specification.

Comprehend product design into computer modelling software.

Use computer software to create the design of parts and tools. ( Latest version of MasterCam, MasterCam x9 )Complete quality control during the machine's manufacturing stage and on the final product.

• Adjust and verify machine settings to desired product specifications.

• SKILLS:

Computer software skills: CNC programmers use CAD and CAM software to create designs of parts and tools. They use the CAD software to create designs and blueprints of machine parts and use the CAM software to generate CNC machine instructions.

• Mathematical skills: The core work of CNC programmers relies on measurements, numbers and dimensions. Also, perform machine adjustment calculations that require strong mathematical skills.

Analytical skills: To read and comprehend complex blueprints, models and drawings to create solutions as per requirement.

Communication skills: A part of workday involves working with CNC engineers, which requires excellent communication skills. As CNC programmers document the process of operating a machine, they require written communication skills.Comprehension skills: Reading and understanding blueprints of machines requires strong comprehension skills. Using this skill set, programmers ensure the part or tools they design are accurate.

• Teamwork skills: These programmers are a part of a industrial engineering team. From CNC engineers to CNC operators and CNC machinists, CNC programmers work with everyone on the team, which requires teamwork skills.
