Role: Chief Underwriting Officer
Position Summary:
The Chief Underwriting Officer oversees the overall performance and strategic direction of the Underwriting and Reinsurance departments. This role is responsible for monitoring individual and departmental performance, ensuring all underwriting activities adhere to company policies, and managing relationships with international brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Underwriting department, regularly assessing the performance of each Line and Line Head, including Reinsurance.
- Oversee the Reinsurance department and ensure effective servicing of international brokers.
- Monitor the overall performance of the Underwriting and Reinsurance departments and recommend strategies to improve top-line and bottom-line results.
- Implement and enforce underwriting policies and guidelines as approved by management.
- Approve risk acceptances within company guidelines and ensure compliance by all Line Heads.
- Collaborate with the Reinsurance Head to recommend appropriate reinsurance programs for all lines of business.
- Review large losses, assess impact, and implement measures to improve risk assessment quality.
- Ensure excellent service delivery to international brokers and maintain strong relationships.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in underwriting, with proven leadership managing both Underwriting and Reinsurance functions.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, policy implementation, and reinsurance programs.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with international brokers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
