Under the general supervision of the QA Head, provides technical assistance in planning, organizing, and preparing laboratory activities in support of the plant operations.- Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
- Prepares laboratory documented information and/or laboratory manuals, with responsibility for accuracy of information and clarity of theory and principles to be demonstrated in consultation with the laboratory team and arranges for copies for distribution.
- Assists in designing laboratory systems; develops and pre-tests lab test methods and analyzes procedures for intended results.
- Ensure that all quality assurance and quality control programs are in place and properly implemented by the laboratory analyst / personnel. Including standard preparation logbooks, 5s checklist and other quality tools.
- Trains and evaluates laboratory personnel and others laboratory staff, in assigned area of responsibility.
- Assures efficient, accurate and timely reporting and submission of test results, plant obligations, marketing requirements and other related activities.
- Prepares laboratory solutions, reagents, and other laboratory apparatus, as needed to carry out laboratory test methods.
- Ensure the full implementation of the ISO integrated management system in the laboratory.
- Evaluates effectiveness of laboratory continuous process improvement programs to determine what is working and what needs to be revised or eliminated, in consultation with the Quality Assurance and Quality Control unit; makes modifications as appropriate.
- Required skills will include:
Degree in Chemistry or similar field.- Licensed Chemist is preferred.
Minimum 5+ years experience in supervising and operating laboratories.
- Must be willing to work on shifting schedules.
