Higher education in Mechanical Engineering. In the US that would be a 4 years Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
From that education and experience the candidate will have: a. a firm grasp of the equations of motion and their real-world application as it relates to machines and/or product design. b. A clear understanding of the laws of conservation and their real-world application. c. A clear understanding of the Mechanics of materials and the laws that govern them.
A clear and concise understanding of Solidworks software for the creations and editing of solid geometry and associated 2D engineering drawings.
Complete understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Tolerance and Drawing standard and the ability to apply these standards to Components and assemblies in the 2D drawing presentation. Combined with a real-world understanding these tolerances application have on the preferred manufacture method and potential impact to raising or lowering component and assembly costs.
Responsibilities:
Design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA). Primarily concept development of machines or products requested by clients will be developed by others in the company. Given a conceptual layout break the concept into assemblies, sub-assemblies and individual components assuring that the components are manufacturable and assemblies can be assembled.
Engineer mechanical parts and assemblies in Solidworks software with design intent build into the solid models. Including the ability to apply design intent within the models dimension scheme, such that during the drawing creation where most of the dimensions are driving dimensions.
The desire to expand their knowledge base with an ability to use google and other tools to research and learn detailed specific engineering related information necessary to perform all of the above. I don't know is not an acceptable response, I don't know but I will find out is!
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Design/CAD
Use RISA 3D to do FEA Analysis to select what steel beams to use (loads and opening sizes will be given)
Use Excel to create node location tables to easily copy into RISA 3D, as well as update the project Excel Database for every new configuration created.
Use Solidworks Pack & Go feature to copy similar systems and adjust to get hole locations
Create/update Cultists and hole Location drawings for individual beams on the project
Create STP File database of assemblies
Update Driveworks program to create automated project generation
Programming
Update existing configuration program using Python (In particular experience with Pandas and reportlab libraries) and Java
Program generates line drawings, proposals, and bill of materials/budget (exports are PDF and Excel) for client in approval stage, user interface must be created/updated. (Current front end uses NODEJS with API of MongoDB)
i. Initial program is for in house use; with eventual shift to online
