The Opportunity:
As a Bookkeeper/Accountant at Signal of Metro Northern Virginia, you will play a crucial role in supporting the CEO and the Director of Finance with various finance initiatives. This position requires significant knowledge of GAAP and the ability to compile financial statements, manage bookkeeping, and ensure accurate financial records. You will contribute to the financial health and growth of Signal of Metro Northern Virginia by maintaining precise financial data and supporting strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and prepare the three financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Perform general bookkeeping duties, including recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, and reconciling accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant financial regulations.
- Work closely with the CEO and Director of Finance on financial initiatives and strategic planning.
- Prepare and file tax returns and other regulatory reports.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes.

Requirements:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required (American CPA preferred, Australian CPA at a minimum).
- Significant knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accountant, or in a similar finance role.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in QBO and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
