Job Summary
A Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers at a bar or restaurant. The role requires excellent customer service skills, knowledge of drink recipes, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Bartenders must create a welcoming atmosphere, interact with customers, and ensure that patrons have a positive experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greet customers, take drink orders, and engage in friendly conversation. Provide recommendations on drink selection when needed. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Drink Preparation: Mix and serve drinks according to standard recipes or customer requests. Ensure that all beverages are prepared and served to company standards.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the bar area clean and organized, including washing glassware, wiping down counters, and restocking supplies. Ensure all bar tools and equipment are in good working order.
- Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash transactions, including processing payments (cash, credit card, etc.), giving change, and managing tabs. Ensure proper cash drawer reconciliation at the end of the shift.
- Stock Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels of alcoholic beverages, mixers, and supplies. Notify the manager when stock is running low and assist with ordering as needed.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding alcohol service. Check IDs to verify customers are of legal drinking age. Monitor and manage intoxicated patrons, ensuring a safe environment.
- Bartender Etiquette: Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance. Handle customer complaints or concerns with diplomacy and efficiency.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen and wait staff to ensure a seamless experience for guests. Communicate effectively with team members and managers to ensure smooth operations.
