A Food and Beverage Bartender in beverage service is typically involved in preparing and serving drinks to customers in a bar, restaurant, or other hospitality venue. Bartenders must be knowledgeable about a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as mixology techniques, glassware, and garnishes. Preparing and serving beverages, creating and maintaining an inviting bar area, and providing excellent customer service to guests. It is also expected to follow all health and safety guidelines, including maintaining personal hygiene, ensuring food is stored properly, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and take drink orders: Bartenders should greet customers warmly and take their drink orders, making recommendations and answering any questions they may have about the menu.
- Prepare and serve drinks: Bartenders should be able to mix and serve a wide range of drinks, from classic cocktails to modern variations, and ensure they are served correctly and promptly.
- Stock and maintain the bar: Bartenders should be responsible for stocking the bar with supplies and ensuring that all equipment and tools are clean and well-maintained.
- Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere: Bartenders should be able to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for customers by engaging in conversation and ensuring that the bar is clean and tidy.
- Ensure compliance with alcohol laws and regulations: Bartenders should be familiar with alcohol laws and regulations and ensure that they are being followed at all times.
- Handle customer service issues and complaints: Bartenders should be able to handle any customer service issues or complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Adhering to safety standards: required to adhere to safety standards and regulations when handling alcohol and other beverages.
- Inventory management: manage inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to ensure that there is always an adequate supply of ingredients and supplies.
- Learning and following company policies: learn and follow the company policies and procedures, including those related to dress code, attendance, and customer service standards.
- Handle and dispose of food waste and garbage according to established procedures.
- Attend training sessions to learn new skills and improve existing ones.
Qualifications
- Min HSSC pass, diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in food service or hospitality may be preferred.
- Min experience of 1 -3 years in F & B Service
- Strong knowledge of food service operations, including hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Strong physical stamina, with the ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skill with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on cleanliness and organization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
