Objective : The Barge Operations Officer is primarily responsible for the smooth operation, technical matters and overall maintenance of the vessels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handles matters related to the notification and management of storage and voyage.
- Collects navigational date related to the safety of Sea Routes and coordinates them with the Master/Crew onboard and to the President/General Manager.
- Liaises company vessel documents to ensure smooth operation and voyage. Safekeeps and monitors these documents for renewal or new application.
- Safe keeps and provides the necessary vessel's forms needed during voyage.
- Monitors fresh water requirements.
- Ensures the provision of appropriate supplies for the operation of the vessel.
- Handles technical related problems of the vessels.
- Processes procurement of machineries, spare parts, consumable needs of the vessels, outsourced maintenance or repair and other needs of the crew which are relevant for the operation. Coordinates with the Purchasing Department for Technical requirements to procure to ensure quality of the needed materials.
- Monitors and maintains records of inventory of tools and supplies for the vessels.
- Coordinates with the Admin Officer for Crewing requirements. Reports evaluation of crew performance and behavior for proper action. Provides orientation to crew members upon embarkation.
- Coordinates with the DPA for orientation about Safety Familiarization of the crew onboard and schedule of Emergency Drills.
- Coordinates with the DPA on vessel documents to ensure safe and continuous operations of the vessel.
- Monitors and conducts general assessment of the vessels.
- Handles and monitors dry-docking requirements of the vessels. Outsources for shipyards and other service providers for maintenance and repair. Evaluates and recommends proposals to the President/General Manager.
- Perform other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time.
- Adheres to company policies, rules and regulations and procedures relating to health & safety and environmental management.
Minimum Education/ Experience Required:
Graduate of BS Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering course. Preferably have at least one (1) year of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Tagalog and English, both written and verbal.
Has good coordinating skills. Keen to details. Knowledgeable in MS Office applications. Has knowledge and sufficient experience of the operation of ships at sea and in port.
