Required work:
A Service Advisor works should be the conduit between technicians and customer. Helping the customer to understand what is necessary, why it is necessary and what the consequences of not doing recommended work are. Clearly, accurately and concisely stating the customer concerns for the technician using company approved and tough methods in maintaining 95% or above customer satisfaction.
A Service Adviser's main job is to interpret customer concerns and comments for the technician, so that the technician will diagnose problems correctly. Then adviser translates the technician's findings, which may be complex, into language the customer will understand.
As with all positions within dealerships, service advisers are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.
Job Duties:
The duties of a service adviser include: `
- Greeting customers promptly Listening to requests of the service desire and clearly explaining information on the repair order (RO).
- Estimating the cost and time needed to do the repair, taking into account the customer's schedule.
- Handling customer complaints and maintaining high customer satisfaction standards.
- Confirming the shop's operational status and stock of necessary parts and providing instructions for arrangements
- Filling repair order sheets and processing them
- Confirming progress of activities and contacting customers
- Contacting customers for additional work and obtaining approval
- Promoting and selling recommended products
- Explaining work duties to customers Advising customers on vehicle use and explaining and recommending the next inspections and repairs.
